ASTM F42: Classification

 

It is very important to clearly understand that new classification system of additive manufacturing is introduced by American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM). ASTM has a dedicated committee working in the area of additive manufacturing referred as ASTM F42. With the ability to print polymers, ceramics, composites and metals alloys additive manufacturing is growing rapidly in different industrial sectors such as aerospace, oil and gas, biomedical, marine, sports etc. The seven categories as mentioned as under;

3.       Powder Bed Fusion

4.       Material Jetting

5.       Binder Jetting

6.       Sheet Lamination

7.       Directed Energy Deposition
